Children and the Pandemic

I worry about the children.

Yes, it’s difficult for the adults now, especially those who live alone and are trying to keep physical distance between themselves and others. But these are the formative years for children of all ages. And their social circles have become as limited as that of adults.

I worry because I grew up in the country, where my only companions were my siblings for many years. I think that many of the problems I have with social interactions are due to that. I also have noticed that children who are home schooled have more difficultly in socializing. So, my own experience says that kids, all kids, are going to have a tougher time getting through this than we imagine.

But all kids are going to have this problem, right? Well, not those who think this virus is a hoax, that it’s overblown. But my admittedly biased outlook says those children will have other problems. And will the children of this generation have the tools to be able to handle the conflict?

I hope to be able to read this in 10 years and see what the outcome is. How will our future, and the future of these children, be affected?
