I have a prediction. Despite the doomsdayers, I firmly believe that Joe Biden will win the presidential election. But that will be a mixed blessing. We’ll have Trump out of the White House. But Biden will be inheriting a mess: Strained relationships with international partners. Economy in shambles. And the COVID-19 pandemic.

Biden will take over office in winter. COVID-19 is bad now. But it will be worse in the winter, when people are indoors more. So the Republicans will point to that and say that it’s worse because of the Democrats, even though it was Trump’s poor policies that put us in this situation.

A vaccination should be ready for distribution during the Biden presidency. Republicans will say that it was so ‘quick’ because of the sound policies put in place by Trump, even though Trump’s FDA was willing to allow chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine to be used at treatment, at the president’s insistence. In fact the president said he had been taken the combination at one point.

Obama ran into similar issues. He came to his presidency just after the economic collapse in 2008. Under his leadership, the economy was again booming. But Trump has taken credit for the work done by Obama. And now that a crisis has hit, he blames Obama for the fact he wasn’t ready to face it. [face palm]

So yes, I feel sorry for Biden. But hopefully, we will also turn the Senate and be able to undo some of the damage done over the past 3 years.
