I had heard many stories of current economic situation. But this one hit me the hardest. No, I don't know the person personally. But I have known people like her. And that's what I want to emphasize with this section.

The text says:

I am a Hair Stylist. I cut your hair, your kids hair, your parents hair. I am accomplished at this and love what I do. I pay my rent, my bills and my taxes yet own nothing but a car. I love my life, even love my old car. I take care of myself and my health, however.....

Last year I was diagnosed with Aggressive Inflammatory Breast Cancer and had no medical insurance. It took me 3 months to start treatment while it spread to my lymph nodes. Thank god my income was low enough I got accepted to Medi-Cal since without it I would be Dead right now. One year later and I am still in treatment which had I started right away would not have been so extreme. But, I am alive today!

I am the 99%

Some of these are hard luck stories. Some are just frustrating. Some will be about people who try to make it in this world but, except for public safety nets, they would be on the street. Some will be about the inability to get off the hamster wheel. All will hopefully make you think about whether we should continue to cut into our social programs.

The rest of the stories I relate will be of friends, or people one removed from me. Either I know the person personally, or I know the person who knows them.

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

I picked up this 'name' awhile back. I loved the implications. There's all sorts of stuff and fluff out there in the the world. I really didn't expect what I wrote to make any national, nor even local, prominence.

I think most of us who write blogs are just finding a way to have ourselves heard, even if it's just by ourselves. We aren't going to sway public opinion. The only one who will probably pay attention is our family and friends. But sometimes, writing about it makes you feel better.

So watch these pages. In between contracts, alot will get written. During busy periods, there may be nothing.

Original post blogged on b2evolution.
